It was the weekend before the Oscars when I realized that I'd still only seen one film nominated in any of the major categories (acting, picture, director, writing). I saw Bridesmaids in theatres, but hadn't made the trip for any other nominees. I used to see ALL the films, but as the years have gone by, my enthusiasm for movies has waned as my obsession for all things television grows. I kinda takes the fun out of awards season though! So I decided to try and stuff as many movies as I could into the next 7 days and change.
I made it through:
-The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
-The Help
-Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
-Moneyball
-Midnight in Paris
-Hugo
-The Descendants
I really wanted to watch My Week With Marilyn but it hadn't finished downloading yet (yes, I illegally downloaded all these films. This was an Oscar emergency!). I had just over two hours left until the fashion extravaganza began, so I settled for The Iron Lady. But about 1 hour into the film, My Week With Marilyn was ready to go - so I abandoned Margaret Thatcher for Marilyn Monroe. Of course I only made it halfway through, but at least a saw a good portion of both films. I think it says something that I wasn't motivated to watch the second half of The Iron Lady later, but I was dying to see the rest of My Week With Marilyn!
Anyway - it's all over and The Artist took the top prize, but I'll still try to post my thoughts on the movies I marathoned.

Of the ones that you've mentioned, I really liked The Help, Midnight in Paris, Hugo, and The Descendants and I was pleasantly surprised with Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close as I originally had no interest in it. The Artist was good, Moneyball & The Iron Lady were alright. I feel like I didn't like Moneyball as much as everyone else and I liked Midnight in Paris more than everyone else...
